Completed a pool remodel with them and it went great! Communication with Amy from the start was good and then to the construction part with Ben. My backyard looks like it got a brand new pool. Great team to work with and I would recommend them 7 days a week!

J Caldwell patiently worked with us the get a pool design that was exactly what we wanted and within our budget.  We had the same experience during construction.  Scott, our project manager, was patient with us and eased all our concerns throughout the process.  One year later we have not had any issues with the pool that could be attributed to J Caldwell.  It is a beautiful pool that the entire family enjoys.  Overall a very good experience.

UPDATE:  Years after installation, the color of our pool deck has discolored and deteriorated.  After speaking with the product manufacturer, this appears to be due to the wrong colorant applied to the concrete.  I’ll now have to pay to get it corrected.

It took 15 months to complete a job that was verbally quoted as 3-4 months. Broke ground 12 Nov 2024 and final work completed 04 Mar 2026. Actually took almost 16 months. At some point you just have to stop. Multiple reworks including water feature, sink, wood stain, and pool plaster. Both had to be removed and reworked. They are beautiful now. Coping was beautiful but when they chipped out the original plaster they threw heavy tools up on coping and scratched it badly. They came back and used a grinder to remove the scratches. Horrendous. Look at the photo of the coping. The concrete is powdered on the surface and tracks in the house. I pointed this out many times and was told it’s normal. BS! I will learn to fix it myself because I can’t trust J Caldwell to address and correct these deficiencies to a livable standard. If you contract J Caldwell get timelines and details. Our contract was very vague with the exception of payments and due dates. I am a retired Navy Master Chief and I’ll call BS when I see it! Stay on these guys if you hire them.

I originally left a 5-star review, but after recent experiences, I feel it’s more accurate to rate this company 3 stars.
The pool build itself went fine, but the customer service after the sale has been disappointing. I recently reached out regarding cracks in my decking that developed less than 3 years after installation. I understand from the contract that cracks are not covered under the 1-year warranty, that’s not the issue. My concern was the severity and whether it could lead to larger problems over time, especially since I’ve had multiple pools over the past 20 years and have never experienced this.
I submitted two warranty requests and made two phone calls before Adam came out to look at the cracks. He told me he would speak with the owner and have him call me. After that, I had to follow up with Adam two more times before the owner finally reached out. When he did call, he questioned why I expected a call at all, which was surprising given what I had been told. The conversation felt dismissive. There was no real concern shown about the condition of the decking or my experience as a customer. The only options given were patching, which I was told I would not like the look of, or replacing the section, with the comment that it would likely crack again anyway.
On top of that, I had a frustrating experience with their in-house maintenance team. A technician entered my backyard without any notice, no call and no knock, which was uncomfortable. I believed he was there to evaluate rust stains I had previously reported, but when I asked about it, he seemed annoyed and acted as though I should not be asking questions.
Overall, this company seems to fall short when it comes to communication, professionalism, and standing behind their work beyond the initial build. If you are considering them, just be aware that the level of care and responsiveness may change significantly after the project is complete.

I cannot recommend J. Caldwell Custom Pools enough! They were recommended to us by a family friend to do a renovation and add a sun shelf. Even though we live more than 3 1/2 hours from DFW Ben made the trip out just to do our quote. Even with the long drive every crew showed up on time and worked late! You can tell that they take pride in their work and are skilled at what they do! Today Thomas and Hero came out to balance the pool and clean up debris that fell in our pool! We just finished a building a new house that included a new pool by J Caldwell Pools.   J Caldwell Pools exceeded our expectations at every step of the process.   Tanya was so helpful and knowledgeable in working with us to design our pool and pick out the finishes within our budget.  The construction crew was one of the best contractors on site.  We never had to worry about them doing excellent work on time and on budget.  Finally the checkout/commissioning crew did a great job getting the pool running and showing us how everything worked.   We are eagerly waiting for summer so we can begin using our new pool.
